India launches anti-dumping probe on Penicillin G imports from China

India's Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of Penicillin G and its salts from China, following a complaint by Lyfius Pharma, a subsidiary of Aurobindo Pharma. Lyfius Pharma, the sole domestic manufacturer of the product, alleged that a sustained influx of underpriced Chinese imports has caused material harm to its production and forced it to cut prices to match landed import costs. The DGTR said there is sufficient prima facie evidence that the product is being dumped into the Indian market by Chinese exporters, and has agreed to 2025-26 as the period of investigation.
