The Ministry of External Affairs announced on 18 September 2026 that Hansraj Singh Verma, a 2008 batch Indian Foreign Service officer currently serving as Consul General of India in Sao Paulo, Brazil, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Cuba. Verma has previously served in India's missions in Buenos Aires, Chittagong, Paris, Accra, Frankfurt, Maputo and Lisbon, and was Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Ministry's headquarters between 2019 and 2021. He is expected to take up his new assignment in Havana shortly.
