Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, leading India's delegation at the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Arusha, Tanzania, exercised India's right of reply after a Pakistani delegate referred to Jammu and Kashmir at the forum. Singh said the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India, and cited voter turnout of 58.5 per cent in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and 63 per cent in the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections as evidence of normalcy and democratic participation in the region.
