The Swedish Academy awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature to Canadian poet, essayist and classicist Anne Carson, "for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature." Carson is known for works including Autobiography of Red and Nox. She joins past laureates including Rabindranath Tagore and last year's winner, Hungarian novelist Laszlo Krasznahorkai.
