The Reserve Bank of India announced on 10 October 2026 a special window to meet the entire daily dollar requirement of three public sector oil marketing companies, Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation. Under the facility, which takes effect from 12 October 2026 and remains until further notice, the RBI will sell US dollars to these three companies through designated banks rather than leaving them to source dollars from the open market. The RBI said the decision follows an assessment of current market conditions, as the rupee remains under pressure against the dollar.
