Not every inherited practice deserves to be carried forward merely because it is old; a nation that mistakes age for merit binds its future to habits that outlived the circumstances that once justified them. To move forward, India must be willing to set down those bonds that serve only memory, and to keep, and strengthen, only those that continue to serve its present purpose.
