UPSC Prelims 2024 · CSAT (Paper 2) · Q11
Medium · Passage: best inference
Read the following passage and answer the item that follows. Your answer to this item should be based on the passage only.
Investigating an outbreak well calls for several habits of mind at once. Someone has to read a clinical picture, but also to reason about sampling and error in the numbers coming in from the field, and to understand why a community might avoid a testing camp altogether. Where these are taught as separate degrees, graduates arrive fluent in one language and unable to follow the other two, and the delay while they learn to talk to each other is measured in cases. The countries that respond quickest tend to train field epidemiologists in programmes that deliberately mix clinical medicine, statistics and the social sciences from the first year.
Which one of the following statements best reflects the most logical and rational inference that can be made from the above passage?
