The Bihar government deployed 33 teams of the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force, comprising six NDRF and 27 SDRF teams, in flood sensitive districts on 5 September 2026 as water levels in several major rivers rose sharply. The Ganga was flowing above the danger mark at Digha and Gandhi Ghat in Patna, as well as at Bhagalpur, Kahalgaon, Buxar and Munger, while the Gandak, Kosi, Budhi Gandak, Punpun and Ghaghra rivers also crossed danger levels at various points. The state deployed 693 boats to support movement and evacuation, and district administrations set up relief camps and community kitchens for affected residents.
