India and Kuwait held the inaugural meeting of their Joint Defence Committee (JDC) in New Delhi on Friday (28 August 2026), co-chaired by Joint Secretary Amitabh Prasad and Brigadier General Raed Alsakran leading a five member Kuwaiti delegation. The two sides agreed to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation across training, military exercises, military medicine, staff talks, defence industry and research and development. The meeting operationalised the Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation signed between India and Kuwait during the Prime Minister's visit to Kuwait in December 2024, with the Indian delegation drawing representatives from the three services, the Department of Defence Production, the Defence Research and Development Organisation, the Armed Forces Medical Services and the Ministry of External Affairs.
