UPSC Prelims 2024 · CSAT (Paper 2) · Q43
Medium · Passage: validity of assumptions
Read the following passage and answer the item that follows. Your answer to this item should be based on the passage only.
A manager who answers every difficulty a junior brings by taking the work back has taught the junior something, though not what was intended. The lesson is that difficulties are best not mentioned. What looks from one side like responsiveness looks from the other like a standing warning, and the problems that would most repay early attention are exactly the ones that stop arriving. The managers whose juniors bring them bad news early are usually those who have made a visible habit of leaving the work where it is.
Based on the above passage, the following assumptions have been made:
1. A junior may stop reporting difficulties to a manager who responds by taking the work over.
2. Young employees today have less regard for experience than earlier generations had.
Which of the assumptions given above is/are valid?
